Zurich: The Careum Campus is to be expanded
The Careum campus in Zurich is to be expanded. An extension of the main building is planned.

The Careum Foundation with its campus on Gloriastrasse in Zurich has reached its spatial limits, according to the City of Zurich. For this reason, the private design plan "Areal Careum" was developed, which is intended to create the planning conditions for the structural expansion of the site and thus a greater range of education and training in the healthcare and social sectors. The city council has now approved the design plan and referred it to the municipal council.
The plan is to increase the height of the main building by four storeys to a maximum of 34 metres. This solution proved to be convincing in the preceding feasibility study, both from an urban planning and an operational point of view. The utilisation possibilities compared to the current building and zoning regulations will not be increased. In addition, it is planned to green the outdoor space of the Careum site and to further expand renewable energies by means of solar installations. (a.o.)
