The residential building at Waldmeisterweg 3,5 in Zurich-Unterstrass comprises mainly 4.5-room apartments that are rented for CHF 2,030 to 2,330/month including utilities.

While interest in the apartments has been "huge," according to the PWG, the underground parking garage is largely empty. Only four of the total 18 spaces have been rented out, even though only the legally required number of parking spaces was created, the foundation says. "We didn't expect such low demand," says Andreas Schmuki, who is responsible for leasing at PWG. He says it is annoying that the foundation had to build an expensive underground parking garage that is now practically empty.

According to PWG, the new building cost CHF 12 million and replaces a building with only eight apartments. The house was designed by Lütjens Padmanabhan Architects from Zurich, who have thus realized their first larger project. (ah)
