Bern: Manor plans department store in the city center
Manor plans to open a new department store at Marktgasse 10 in downtown Bern.
According to Manor, around 4,500 sqm of non-food retail space and a Manora restaurant are to be built on the top floor at Marktgasse 10. The owner of the property is the Zunftgesellschaft zu Schmieden.
"Manor has long regarded the city of Bern as a very interesting location and has examined various possible sites," says regional director Flavio Milani. They are now very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Zunftgesellschaft zu Schmieden, which clears the way for this address to be transformed into a new department store location.
According to the company, the new location could open as early as next spring - provided all the necessary permits have been obtained.
Manor is part of Maus Frères Holding, headquartered in Geneva. The company owns 60 department stores, 31 supermarkets and 28 restaurants. (ah)
