Andermatt: Buildings around the Piazza Gottardo about to open
In Andermatt Reuss, the first phase around the Piazza Gottardo is nearing completion. The Raddison Blu Hotel and the Gotthard Residences are scheduled to open in mid-December.
The Radisson Blu Reussen hotel with its 179 rooms and the 65 suites and apartments in the Gotthard Residences are grouped around the Piazza Gottardo, as is the Alpenrose apartment building, and are intended to bring a village character to the resort. A Victorinox store has already opened and a store for the outdoor brand Mammut, which is being built in collaboration with Imholz Sport on the first floor of Haus Edelweiss, is scheduled to open before Christmas, Andermatt Swiss Alps reports.
On the first floor of Haus Alpenrose, a restaurant, a bakery, a chocolateria and a small store will be integrated. Between Haus Alpenrose and the Gotthard Residences, a staircase is being built that leads toward the train station and into the historic center of Andermatt.
The concert hall is currently being expanded and will then offer up to 700 seats. The construction is being carried out by the British Studio Seilern Architects and is scheduled to be inaugurated in spring 2019.
Meanwhile, two more houses are under construction: The apartment houses Fuchs and Eisvogel are under construction. In the next few years, more apartment houses and hotels will be built. (ah)
