Burgdorf: GVB project ready for occupancy as of February
The intergenerational living project of GebÀudeversicherung Bern GVB in Burgdorf is being implemented as planned. The city has approved the adapted operating concept.

As the investor, GebÀudeversicherung Bern (GVB) has commissioned the general contractor Losinger Marazzi to construct four buildings with a total of 94 apartments at Thunstrasse 22-28 in Burgdorf. The plan is to bring people of different generations together in the buildings.
However, the "GenerationenWohnen Thunstrasse Burgdorf" cooperative withdrew from the general rental agreement at the end of March, meaning that the GVB had to look for a new solution. The real estate service provider Lubana was found as the new partner for letting and operation.
The GVB has also founded its own tenants' cooperative, to which every tenant of the estate will belong. The cooperative will be financed from the rents and will, for example, operate the communal areas and promote socio-cultural activities, according to the GVB. The building commission of the town of Burgdorf approved this adapted operating concept for intergenerational housing at a meeting in October.
The letting of the residential units is now set to begin and, according to GVB, the apartments can be occupied on February 1, 2019. (ah)
