Zurich: Laying of the foundation stone for Guggach residential development
On January 25, the foundation stone was laid for a residential development on the Guggach site in Zurich's Unterstrass district. The client is the UBS pension fund, and HRS Real Estate is realizing the project as general contractor.
The site is located on the northern edge of the Unterstrass neighborhood (district 6), directly at the foot of the Käferberg. A total of 251 rental apartments will be built, spread over two eight-story buildings, as well as a community room. In the inner courtyard of the development, a one-story pavilion will be built to house a kindergarten and a day care center. The development also includes an underground garage for 127 cars, 14 motorcycles and around 400 bicycles. The apartments will be designed and certified according to the Minergie standard.
A project by the architects Knapkiewicz & Fickert, who had won the project competition, is being realized. After a four-year planning phase, the foundation stone has now been laid. If the construction work progresses according to plan, the apartments can be occupied at the beginning of 2020.
