Disentis: "Acla da Fontauna" makes way for 100 million new building

The ruined hotel "Acla da Fontauna" is to be given a new lease of life. Immo Invest Partner AG from Zurich wants to invest CHF 100 million in a new building. Redevelopment is not worthwhile because of contaminated sites.

The "Acla da Fontauna" hotel in Disentis (GR) has been empty since 2001, but is now to be reopened as a four-star establishment. In Immo Invest Partner AG from Glattbrugg (ZH), the municipality has found an investor who wants to build a new hotel for 100 million.

The original plan was to renovate and expand the old hotel. However, the building contains high levels of asbestos and PCBs, and the low floor heights no longer meet today's requirements. Therefore, the hotel is now to be replaced by a new building of almost the same height, but reduced by one storey.

There will be 208 rooms, a wellness area and a banquet hall. In six smaller buildings, which are located behind the hotel and form a courtyard with it, 91 apartments are planned, some of which will be managed and some sold as second homes. The courtyard is planned as a public meeting place with a water basin and café. The individual buildings are connected by a park-like green space. The project was designed by Maier Hess Architekten from Zurich. HRMP AG from Zug is to run the hotel as a franchise operation.

If the building permit is granted, the deconstruction can start this summer. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2019. The hotel could then be opened for the 2020/21 season.
