Last fall, AXA Winterthur and the City of Zurich presented their plans for the "Haus zum Falken" development at Stadelhofen station. Based on designs by the renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, a new building with a municipal bicycle station in the basement is to be constructed. The city council has now approved the necessary private design plan.

The "Haus zum Falken" and the bicycle station will enhance the entire surroundings of one of the busiest railroad stations in Switzerland, which was also built by Calatrava, according to the City of Zurich. The architectural project is intended to set an urban development accent and has been the subject of lively public debate. Four objections were raised during the public consultation on the design plan, which were taken into account as far as possible, the statement continues.

The planning upgrade associated with the design plan will be compensated by AXA Winterthur with a contribution of CHF 1.55 million to the city. The earliest start of construction is the beginning of 2018.
