Zurich Airport: Commercial and Real Estate divisions under new management

Stefan Gross has headed the Commercial division of Flughafen Zürich AG since February 1. As of April 1, Daniel Scheifele will also take over as head of the Real Estate division. This completes the management team of the airport operator.

Stefan Gross, who has been responsible for Commercial since the beginning of the month, is Swiss and was born in 1969. From 2010 until the end of 2015, he was Managing Director of Einkaufszentrum Glatt, Switzerland's largest shopping center. Before that, he held various management positions at Ikea in Germany and abroad for 14 years.

Daniel Scheifele (born 1962) is currently Head of Technical Management at Strabag Switzerland and was previously Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Board at Swiss total contractor Steiner AG. Scheifele is a trained civil engineer at the ETH (Dr. sc. techn.) and has many years of experience in project management, planning as well as realization of real estate projects.

The organizational structure of Flughafen Zürich AG in place since this year consists of four business units: the Finance unit headed by Chief Financial Officer Daniel Schmucki, the Aviation unit headed by Chief Operations Officer Stefan Conrad, the Commercial unit headed by Chief Commercial Officer Stefan Gross and the Real Estate unit. The heads of these business units, together with CEO Stephan Widrig, also form the Executive Board of Flughafen Zürich AG.

Flughafen Zürich AG operates the airport as a mixed-economy listed company and concessionaire of the Swiss Confederation. In 2014, the company generated sales of CHF 963.5 million and a profit of CHF 205.9 million with a good 1,600 employees. 33.3 percent of the share package belongs to the canton and five percent to the city of Zurich.
