The French sporting goods specialist Decathlon is opening three more stores in German-speaking Switzerland in November and is moving into a significantly larger sales area in Avry-sur-Matran (FR). With the three new stores, Decathlon has increased its presence throughout Switzerland from 40 to 48 stores since the beginning of the year. The opening of up to a dozen additional Decathlon stores in Switzerland is planned by the end of next year.

On November 14, a city store with a sales area of 430 square meters will open its doors in the city of Lucerne. As in other central locations, Decathlon is also focusing heavily on "Click & Collect" here. According to local media, the store will be located at Kapellgasse 8. On November 19, Decathlon will open in the "Ziil" shopping center in Kreuzlingen (TG) on a sales area of just under 1,700 m². One week later, on November 26, Decathlon will open a city branch in Interlaken with a sales area of around 530 square meters.

Decathlon is also moving to a new space in Avry-sur-Matran near Fribourg. Within the same shopping center, the chain is almost doubling its sales area to 2,150 m².

A previously announced store opening took place in Spreitenbach (AG) in mid-June. The flagship store in the Tivoli shopping center is Decathlon's largest in Switzerland. This was followed in July by a branch in the "Metalli" in Zug. (aw)
